Just wanted to add a short complaint about Chase Auto Financing: Every time I call, the computers are "down." Every time I call, I get a different story about how a check from cancelling my extended warrenty from Saturn can be applied to my balance (as a payment with the remainder to the principal or just to the principal). Now they think I didn't make my last payment.
When I tell them what the last person told me, I am scolded like a child because it was wrong! Every time I leave a message for someone to call back, they don't.
Now I am trying to find out what I owe on my car so that I can pay if off with a loan from my dad because I refuse to pay interest to THEM (I'd rather he have the money/interest). However, nobody even seems to agree on the exact amount so that I can write the check and be rid of them!

I have found this site and I am composing this note while sitting on hold for Chase. I have already been cut off once. To make a long story short, Chase promised me free checking if I had my paychecks directly deposited into my checking. I took the offer.
The very first month I started getting fees, I went in to my friendly branch. They promised to take care of it. Next, month more fees - between $10 and $25 each month!!! Once again, they promise to take care of it for me. No such luck. Next month, nearly the same thing.
Except now they take my number and say they will call me back. They NEVER do..
I tried the Chase 1-800 number. They apologised up and down and said "no more fees". Thsi month I got $10 worth on my statement with a promise of fees next month of $25. This is for a simple CHECKING account. Apparently, checking should cost between $150 and $250 per year.

How pathetic is Chase? Their reps are illiterate (as is evidenced by their posts here), rude and very poorly trained in any facet of customer service. I work with up to 50 different banks (with an online banking firm). Of all the banks I deal with, Chase Manhattan is by far the worst. No one has a clue, and could really care less.
"The right relationship is everything", my a--. I get dropped every other time I call their support line - isn't that cool?

Chase Bank Collections Dept. Manager
Dear Sir or Madam:
My reason for writing you is two-fold: a formal request and a formal complaint. I will address the complaint first because it directly leads to my request.
On the afternoon of April 7, 1999, at approximately 4:20pm, I received a phone call at work from Miss Butler. As she identified herself, I politely interrupted her and asked that we continue this conversation later and made the request to not be contacted at work ever again. At that point she continued to try and address the matter at hand when I stopped her again and thanked her for her time. She was rude and talking over me saying that that is ok if I didn't want to talk, she'll "just call my supervisor or personnel department for the personal information" she needs. Because she was not honoring my request to not be harassed at work, I hung up the phone. She proceeded to call back and reach another of my co-workers and request the name of my supervisor and to be connected with her. When she was told that my supervisor was not available, she left her number and name and a message that "We'll give Emily one more chance, give her my number and tell her to call me." I called her back shortly after to state once again that I did not want to be contacted at work and that we could discuss my account later if she called me at home. She asked me for my address at that time which I refused because, again, I was at work and did not wish to discuss my situation there. Then she rudely said again that she would contact my personnel department to get this information. I was later called into my supervisor's office and asked if there was a problem. I then had to shamefully explain my personal situation to her and assure her that these types of interruptions will not occur again. And before I made it home from work that day, there was a message on my answering machine from Miss Butler stating this: "Emily, I just want you to know I have your address - 3 2 8 South Spring Ave. Apt # 2, thank you". She did not identify herself or leave a telephone number. It was very rude and uncalled for.
Now certainly you wouldn't want any of your employees receiving personal phone calls at work when you are paying them to do a job; neither does my employer. And furthermore it is none of any of my co-workers (superior or not) business what my financial situation is. I resent your company's bold attempt at collection through humiliation. However, I tell you, in this case it will not work. I am aware of my rights as a credit holder and have discussed this situation with my attorney. He will be contacting you shortly concerning my account.
This leads to my formal request. I wish not to be contacted at work, ever, for any reason whatsoever. This is a third request to not be contacted at work. I will now make the request also to not be contacted at home by phone. Please make any necessary contact with me through the mail at my address above.
Sincerely,
Emily R. Mersich

It was my intent to publish a Web Site about being rudely treated by Chase Manhattan Bank, and their consistency to constantly "lose" payments, but I see you beat me to it! BRAVO to you, and this site. The payments that were "lost" were not lost, they had cashed my checks [cleared, cashed, and back in my possession] but conveniently could not get them posted to my account. They then called me to inform me that my payment had not been received! This happened several months within a 12 month period!
Inept does not begin to describe Chase, and their customer relations. I was told by a customer rep. that she did NOT have to listen to my concerns....and she hung up on me. I have spent hours on hold, and have endured being transferred from one mindless twit to another. All of them had not one clue as to why they were there in Chase's employ, other than to tell me that they could not address my problem.
Rather than to run the gamut any longer with the brain-dead, I am refinancing with a CREDIT UNION. I would strongly advise anyone contemplating doing business with Chase bank, not to do so.

Yes, it is true that Chase's customer service and other departments are SEVERLY lacking. They consistently ignored the fact that they opened two accounts when I only requested one, specifically a gold card account of which I was highly qualified.
Citbank has only recently somewhat improved THEIR customer service.
However, My experience at BofA has been awesome and FAR exceeds other large banks. They underwent dramatic changes and educated their customer service agents very well. They also accept the fact that they make mistakes and give the benefit of the doubt to their customers...not bad for big banking!!!
The whole problem is based on a company's strengths and weaknesses in defining and tolerating "BAD" customer service agents. Many large corporations would rather put up with complaints than pay to "LET THESE WORKERS COLLECT FRIVOLOUS SUIT MONEY!" or "UNEMPLOYMENT BENEFITS"
It seems like CHASE really doesn't care about their customers and having the same last name is a disgrace, specifically in the fact that my family is related to Samuel Chase who signed the Declaration of Independance...
I'm sure Sam wouldn't be too thrilled at having his name associated with that bank's negative attitude.

I love your site! It will be so much better if you start including Chase horror stories that people e-mail you. I read about your site in a news story on news.com.
I had the unfortunate experience of having to deal with the Chase Manhattan branch on Broadway in Manhattan between 90th and 91st streets. I worked for a small business that made deposits in the branch every day, and I got a chance to witness Chase's inept operations on a daily basis. After two years of long lines, completely incompetent tellers and customer service agents, I realized that the thick bullet-proof glass is in no way installed in Chase branches to deter robberies. It's to keep customers from leaping the counters and strangling the incompetent employees that Chase foists on its customers.
Keep up the fight!

When I was 12 I got cussed out by a Chase Bank claims representative because I told him for the 10th time my dad "could not come to the phone."
He gave me just about every expletive I had heard of...
All because my dad doesn't get off of work till 5:30 and he always called at 4. Our lawyer said we couldn't do anything, because I didn't record the conversation. Shucks!
LOVE the site, keep it up!

yes, Chase does suck. Their customer service skills are very poor. Try citibank. We care about our customers financial needs. And to the girl that thought citibank "sucked", learn to balance a checkbook. Banks normally work better for you when you do.

If faithful chase employees spent more time on customer satisfaction and less time playing around with Alexa and the Internet maybe there wouldn't be a need for a chasebanksucks website.

After calling 2 different 800 numbers for Chase Manhattan Bank -- I got stuck in two endless computer voice loops without ever talking to anyone or being able to order their "frequent flier miles credit card" -- So I thought I'd request the application via internet and found your site -- what bank do you recommend ?

I have filed a lawsuit recently against Chase & would like to network with others who also have complaints about their lack of customer service and their failure to live up to the promises that they made to obtain and keep you as a customer.

I bank with Chase on 14th and 7th. I also tried to reach my bank through Serviceline and was told they "couldn't connect me to the branch." What kind of "Right Relationship" is this???? Another extremely pissed of Chase Customer (but not for long)

Their phone system has now gone over the edge so that you cannot even call your local branch. You must call New York and get caught up in their voice mail nightmare. Also, the phone listing in CT is not even correct. I am now disabled and they insist there is no way for me to wire funds without going to the branch office. Other banks allow you to do that over the phone, especially when you have online banking, as I do.

I was called at my office as part of a small business service survey relating to branch operations. While I was given several opportunities to say that Chase sucks, the survey itself sucked so bad that I had to end it midstrea m. Every response I gave was methodically read back to me while being typed in! It seemed designed to limit the amount that I could communicate. I suggested that they should have someone transcribe the info later rather than alienating the person giving them valuable information. While the person surveying me was brain dead, she was at least pleasant enough when I told her the survey sucked too much to continue with.

That bank SUCKS SO HUGE. I had an account with Chase Bank. I had direct deposit. I made that mistake corrected when I found out that they were putting the money in someone else's account and tried for two months to tell me i requested this.
After five months of this touture I went into the branch and found a manager and after two hours of me screaming at the top of my lungs they concluded that I was right.
Gee, take a man's money and he might get upset

I have been told of three places to complain: Controller of Currency Compliance, Federal Deposit Insurance Coorporation and the Federal Reserve of San Francisco. I intend to follow through on filing complaints to all three. I called this morning for an update on my account and was told " an investigation has been filed, I should get the results next week". All I want is my money back! Now I am told 60 days means 60 - 80 business working days. That is not what is in print!

I want to voice my utter disapproval of the employees at chase manhattan bank. I am an overweight homosexual male in my mid-thirties. Last week when I went to the bank to make a withdrawal, the clerks refused to look at me, fidgeting all the while. When I inquired as to why I was being treated with such impunity, the teller told me that I should "shake my fag ass out the door and take my banking elsewhere."
I have written several letters of complaint, but I've yet to recieve a reply. Now, my only hope is that the operator of this website might forward my gripe to the proper authorites. New York's gay population must unite and smash the fascist oppression at Chase Bank.

Texas Commerce Bank used to be a generally friendly bank until consumed by CHASE. Quite frankly, I think it's just the New York attitude...
