I'm 50 years old and have worked at JPMorgan Chase for the last 5 years specifically at their Garden City auto finance division. I started my job as a mainframe programmer on a system called ACAPS (a data entry front end system where auto applications are entered). My reviews were good and I established my record of accomplishmnet with that system. I worked on the system for about 3 years and was then offered opportunities to work on intranet systems by various managers. I accepted the opportunity to expand my technical expertise. After about a year the budget was cut on the intranet project and I was offered an opportunity to return to ACAPS under a new manager, Steven Friedman. I accepted. Upon my return I found the system to be unstable and Steven Friedman requested I look into the problems. I found the problem's source was with management of the projects, namely problems with project designs, rusheded implementation of projects without testing and poor prioritization of project assignment resulting in programmers overlaying each others work and moved live without coordination resulting in problems. Steven Friedman became very defensive and the problems began. Six months after my last review (as part of the intranet group) I was reviewed by Steven Friedman. I went from a "1" (Highest) to a "4" (Lowest) in communication skills. He referred to me on my review as sarcastic and recommended I take communication courses and a psychological exam ("What's my Briggs Meyers Type"). He also indicated falsely my inability to complete tasks. I had a meeting with Steven Friedman and Michael LaForgia (Steven Friedman's manager). I explained the issues I found when I returned to a system that, when I left was stable. Michael LaForgia then indicated he believed his manager and threatened to have Steven Friedman write incident reports against me if I didn't admit I had a behavior problem to work on. When one of the managers from another group (Robert Frankel) spoke to Michael LaForgia, on my behalf, to move me into his group Michael LaForgia told him that he felt it inappropriate to allow the transfer and "reward a behavior problem". I set up a meeting with Michael Levine (Michael LaForgia's manager) and discussed the issues I brought up with Michael LaForgia and Steven Friedman. I indicated that other managers were willing to accept me as a transfer into their group. He said he would look into it. A few days later Michael LaForgia called me into his office and told me he was aware of my conversation with Michael Levine and that I wasn't going anywhere. From that point on I was subjected to various forms of harrassment and humiliation. One day I informed Steven Friedman a staff member from another group area was trying to test a new implementation or something and was looking for someone to help him. I innocently offered to help and informed Steven Friedman what I was going to do and that it was in our interest to monitor this because we interact with their system in the live production environment. As it turned out there was no problem but Steven then began threatening me with an incident report for not documenting a production problem and thus jeopardizing the integrity of the ACAPS system. I told him nothing happend and that there was nothing to report. steven Friedman then wrote a false report. I was brought into Michael LaForgia's office. Michal LaForgia told me that I was being given a written warnin and that I was not eligible for raise or promotion for 14 months. I then went to Human Resourses and they refused to review and verify my complaint that it was a false report. Finally I received my second review with Steven Friedman and Michale LaForgia. I was told that my "Chase values" needs improvement. When I asked for specifics Michael LaForgia told me he didn't have to give specifics. On my accomplshments Steven Friedman again falsely reported my accomplishments. Finally I realized I had to seek employment elsewhere. With a closed market I began to experience anxiety attacks and sought out doctor's care. I have recently found a new job at a lesser salary. I would like to ask if I have a defamation complaint based on the written statements on my last two reviews as well as the written warning? Lawyers have told me it is difficult to prosecute as well as expensive ($300/hr). Can they really just get away with this?

I laughed so much when I found this site, I am so damn happy that I am not the only person who wants to demolish Chase and the sh-- in it. I have to say some the people I work with are great, but the rest are A** licking, useless, unfair corporate whores. As the saying goes it alls "blood and no money". I have been off ill many times due to the "school-like" treatment and undue pressure that is pilled on all the time. I feel like I should have 4 pairs of hands, 3 brains and another 6 hours to my working day. Never have I worked in such a place, you would expect more from such a well known company. I'm awaiting another job currently, then I can get out of this sh-- infested hell hole. Yes, the place makes me squirm with hate.

Open letter to Mr Hal Pote:Listed below are a few recommendations you should seriously consider, so that we can make the Retail Bank more profitable.
a) As of now you have too many middle managers in Retail and the organization itself is becoming so segmented that even employees are loosing faith. There are too many levels of middle management - business partners, coaches, Team Leaders, CIA wholesaler, HE wholesaler etc that the bank can definitely do without. These coaches/business partners/ Team Leaders bring nothing new or useful to the table. All you need is a very knowledgeable, smart and capable Branch Manager who is well equipped to supervise all the 3 segements of Retail. The Branch manager should be supported by a very smart and fully licensed capable District Sales Manager. Right now half the people you have in these positions don't deserve to be in those positions. Most of them are such incapable, ego centric folks that no other bank would tolerate. Unless you do something about the bank as a whole will loose out.
b) Make sure that you have the right person as Branch Manager. Some of these branch manager positions have been handed down based not on merit or credentials. MIMs who flaunt their right to do what they like by giving promotions and positions based on ethenic and personal preferences should be held accounatable.

Work hard at JP Morgan Chase and get nothing. I am currently an employee at JPMC (not by my own choice) via my company's merger, and man do i DETEST THIS MISERABLE COMPANY!!!!!
If you try to do good you get reprimanded, if you screw up you get reprimanded, so what can you do. I work in mail services for one of the larger locations and my managers are a bunch of disorganized unprofessonal and totally unethical bunch of morons.
They try to run the place like the military and they lay down a bunch of stupid rules and procedures which change more than i change my underwear. One day its one procedure, the next day its another procedure and if you follow yesterday's procedure the managers will tell you why did you do it that way (with no explanation). Some managers will even yell at you and berate you in front of other employees.
I don't understand their slogan "The Right Relationship Means Everything", there is no right relationship with JPMC at all, it is a miserable hell hole to work for.

I'm a recent former employee of Chase Bank of Texas. One thing you customers should know is that if you don't have more than $25,000.00 in your account, YOU DON'T MATTER!
On any occasion when I had to get management to approve something that I had to do to fix a customer's problem, the first thing they ask is "HOW MUCH MONEY DO THEY HAVE IN THEIR ACCOUNT?" This means that if you don't have a lot of money, your problem will either go unresolved or take painstakingly long to fix.
There's more to come...this is just the tip of the iceberg.

I currently work as an underpaid supervisor in the mortgage collections dept. One problem is upper management is clueless. We have as many VP's on site as we have supervisors. They have to justify their positions and have us supervisors jumping through hoops all day rather than training and developing our employees to better handle customer problems and complaints.
Another problem is that they are too cheap to hire good collectors. They'd rather hire people that worked at the GAP or were asking "Do you want fries with that?" about two weeks ago. We then have to train and develop these useless employees when they bother to show up and we're not busy jumping through hoops.
You wonder why it takes 3 months or more to resolve escrow issues or payment mispostings!?!? This company can go F**K itself!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

As a former employee it was amazing the things JpMorganChase would try to get away with. Obviously working in a call center numbers are the most important thing. Numbers meaning calls that are serviced. In attempt to maintain service levels representatives are required to be logged on and ready to take callls at the begining of their shift. In a nutshell, employees are required to arrive ten minutes early without pay. Failure to do so will lead to a 'performance write up'. My concern is the legality. This isssue displays how employees are treated. I ask you, how do you think customers are treated?

The reason why everyone receives poor service is because of the way customer service representatives are treated. Representatives service at least 100 calls a day. They are required to have an average of 180 sec per call. Failure to do so will hinder any raises, promotions, and/or bonuses. Obviously everyone receives the typical break and lunch time. If one needs to use the restroom, they must advise a supervisor and make up those minutes. A representative has a leeway of two minutes for the whole day - actually a minute and half (the clocks round up, i.e. 30 seconds equals 1 minute). If one is late more that 4 minutes and thirty seconds at the beginning of their shift, after breaks or lunches they will get an occurrence (sounds like those old school days). While individual is punished with an occurrence they still must make up those minutes. 10 times over one year is grounds for dismissal.JpMorganChase is the military of call centers. Under this type of pressure it is very difficult to provide excellent service that customers deserve. Additionally as a customer service rep. all decisions are based on the computer outcome(is the customer valuable to the company, have they paid enough in fees already, etc.). I know it is so frustrating to call in to Chase, unfortunately the individual that answers the call is not at blame for the ill-managed company.

I have been with Chase for eight years. The first three were nice. They meaning Management seemed to care about their employees. I wish I could say the same now.... I can not. The Chase of old does not exist anymore and that is a bad thing, with all the merges we have lost everything that we stood for.
The Right Relationship means everything or so they say. What exactly do they mean by that? I would love to know.... I'm clueless. They take everything away from the dedicated employees that they do have. Starting with the personal days that we use to get.
We lost the Shuttle recently and a lot of people did not know what they were going to do in order to get to work. You would think the hire ups would care about their workers and try to help assist them in finding transportation. That was a statement that they made when we first found out about the bad news. Even after filling out the memo about how many people used the shuttle we thought that everything would work out when they came to a conclusion that we would have a certain amount taken out of our paycheck. A few days later they spring it on us. All HELL broke loose!!!!
Worker's were in a turmoil over this. People were wondering what to do would they quit and get another job or would they try to get the three buses or take a train. Whatever..... Every-one was coming up with ideas every-one but the BANK! They said that they would work with us on it. Schedule Change would be a possible thing to do. Or so they said. Everytime you came up with some idea they would shoot it down.
Chase keeps comparing themselves to MBNA well they have a Shuttle. Why don't we? The budget... The HIGHER UPS do not have a clue on what is going on there. People get by with doing little or no work and nothing is said to them. When other's do a great deal of work but they are the one's that get dumped on. They think they can do more work. That's fine and good... What about the one's that take all day to finish one task when other's do a few? God forbid, if they are having a bad day and they get behind a little. It's a major sin if that happens they wonder why it's not done as fast as you usually do it. What happens to the one that takes all day to do something and is talking all the time and chillin'? Favoritism is rampant here at Chase!
Raising the bar is a good thing if it is done right. In this case it won't be because, they always want more than what you can give them. Nothing is ever good enough. Even though you give 100% maybe more they knock you down. I know no-one is perfect and we all have faults but to constantly tear you down is not a good way to do things.

I am currently an officer at the bank. It is true that anyone who is not a manager will be stepped on and used for the ambitious endeavors. Management changes like the seasons while the people who are the real workers are left to be abused by the next line of managers.Hypocrisy is evident in all the ranks of management. They will be nice to you and appreciate as long as you do their work. If the tides change, you are left to be strung up, tarred and feathered without even a hint of support. They will say one thing and really mean the opposite as far as trust and respect.
Example, they would rather hire expensive consultants to do what they need while pretending to try to cut costs. They cut costs by threatening their employees and actually verbally pushing their employees to leave their jobs.
What kind of employer instantly erases everything you have contributed (years) that they benefited from and kick you to the curb. It is all about doing other people's work and then being stepped on in the process. The call it business as usual but I call it a sad corporate tragedy. It is sad that a select few can corrupt and exploit the very people who support and got them where they are now. Chase management is a poor excuse for their title.

I am an employee with JPMorgan Chase. I truly believe many of these complaints are completely unfounded. Being a CUSTOMER SERVICE PROFRESSIONAL, I am well aware of how to treat my customers. I treat them with the respect and courtesy they deserve. I understand not all of our employees know how to deliver true customer service, but I find it completely offensive to read these comments regarding ALL of Chase customer service professionals. I enjoy the company I work for and will continue working for them! Believe me when I say your site is nothing out of the ordinary. EVERY company in the USA has someone establish a hate website against them. I know many of you may have heard this spill:
I apologize if Chase has not met your expectations. Just remember, most of our customer service representatives mean these words. We, too, are customers. Have a great day.

I am an ex call center employee. No doubt, the managers that are running the show at Chase are nothing more than former hippies with a liberal political agenda. I won't mention her name, but my former manger, C M, was an absolute nutcase. She blew up with her employees - many of whom were very strong sales people who made the bank a lot of money. When brought to other managers attention, they chose to lose most (and I do mean more than 50%) of their employees than to lose a couple of incompetent managers. We are better off gone and Chase is worse off. No wonder the stock price keeps plummeting.
For what its worth!

Being an employee, I just think it is fair to let you know that Chase is out there purchasing other credit card company as I write this such B of A and Providian and many others. Their plan is to be one of the top 5 credit card companies out there and they are well on their way there. I dont approve of some of the things that Chase does but one thing is they do work with students and paying for their college, they give stock and benefits as of day one of employment. There is always bad with the good so take it as it is.

My sympathies go out to anyone who has worked for or is working for Chase Bank. I am a recruiter for the world's largest specialized staffing firm. My suggestion to anyone who is currently employed by Chase is to organize a coup.
I have witnessed this with other companies with similar "policies" of poor treatment of their staff. There are obviously MANY employees of Chase that are unhappy. Unite! How great would it feel to have 80% of you department (hopefully including managers) walk into the big boss' office and quit! Even if only the people in your department or office leave it WILL have an impact. Then, after you've all quit (all on the same day and with no notice of course), you can promptly file for unemployment which CHASE pays for.
If you have documentation of the abuse you have had to incur as an employee of Chase Bank, you should have no problem getting the unemployment agency to approve your claim. In addition, there are staffing agencies everywhere that represent people who are CURRENTLY employed. They can help you locate another job BEFORE you leave this one. People who have 10 years experience at the same company are very desirable (even if the experience is a Chase)! You have options! Even in this economy, you have options!
Staffing agencies can help you find temporary work if you choose to leave without having another job lined up. The bottom line is, you do not have to tolerate this! My heart goes out to all of you. Good luck with your new "post-Chase" life!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am a current chase employee.I work at a midtown branch. The problem is not with customers,it is with managers specifically service manager(S/M).I understand that customers is #1 priority but at the same time S/M need to treat employees(tellers) with respect because we are humans just like customers. If the employees are not treated fairly or satisfied(not just money)there is no way that they will provided EXCELLENT SERVICE.The branch is a very busy branch and the tellers do a great job at keeping the lines moving. Sometimes it feel as though you work in a concentration camp because you work your butt off with no breaks and monatery you are not compensated and on top of that you are treated like dogs.In closing, I recommend that those in charge of managers and service managers would from time to time send them on work shop not on how to make branch goals but on how to speak and relate to other co workers.I wonder,
CHASE-"WHERE THE RIGHT RELATIONSHIP IS EVERYTHING", DOES IT APPLY TO EMPLOYEES OR JUST CUSTOMERS????????

I've been in customer (dis)service at chase for a year, but since I'm not a minority or gay, I have no future here. This is a great place to work if you want to have a damn food day every other day... maybe it's their plan to make everyone so fat, they'll be too lazy to quit. I can call 5 different supervisors and get 5 different answers, none of them correct.
Oh, any if any customers are reading this: calm down. your little late fee is not the end of the world, so there's no reason to scream! and if you mail a payment on friday, NO!, it will not reach us by Monday. Use your heads.

Hey all my fellow Chase haters...I am a current employee of Chase. I have to say that yes, "CHASE SUCKS!!!". In fact it bites the big one. I have been an employee for going on three years and I have to give it up for my fellow browbeaten reps. We work in collections and even though management is changed monthly and team leads are blathering idiots, and supervisors are opressive, rude, incompetent, scheming, uneducated, alcoholic, drug-abusing, imbiciles....(i digress), just get the hell out as soon as you can. I have just completely redone my resume and am about to take it out to other banks.
We at the Chase Newark, Delaware site get as much crap as everyone else and it has gotten worse since JPMorgan took over. They got us involved in the whole Enron bull----, and from what I heard Chase just helped bring WorldCom out of bankruptcy!!! Why don't you corporate f**ks use all this extra money that you are using on other companies and pay your hard-workind underpaid collectors? We sure don't see that crap when you're handing out our annual raises, let me tell ya!! I have never felt so oppressed and down and hating a job as I do working for this poor excuse for a corporation.
So many people would love this site where I am and I am so gonna tell everyone I trust about it so that they can vent their frustrations as well since none of us have another venue...for those who truly know Chase, how would even voicing these opinions down in HR sound even if you said them in the calmest most professional way possible??? COULD YOU IMAGINE?? You might as well go in there with you rear end exposed so that they can kick you out on it with their big corporate boot. It sucks to be there, the ass-kissing is intolerable, the phoniness (is that a word?) is a disgrace.
All Chase non-conformist employees are stressed out and I feel your pain, but eventually you find something else that treats you better, and pays better. I hope I find that soon, wish me luck, ( or are they buying everything???). Keep your heads up because eventually they will be exposed, what will happen to them will probably be nothing because money talks, but at least someone will hear us. (besides those of us who have had the unfortunate experience of working for them)...
Love the site, so far most I've seen here is true...Will probably now be checking in everyday!!!!!!!!

Ok so we are all so pissed at chase ! i do understand! Hey I work in Tampa CS. they started having us sell for them then they say that if we pass Quaility Assurance that they will pay us our (Bonus) well needless to say the people that listen to our calls they record them you know to listen to later they have no friggin idea what they are doing chase gives us a breakdown of what they want us to say its like 35 pages long and this QA chngs it every 2 to 3 weeks then a whole bunch of us sell all month and QA gives the last report on the last day of the month so after we sell and take the nasty a** phone calls like 130 a day and try our best they make sure most of dont pass the QA so they screw us in the back side and say well you didnt pass QA so sorry no bonus for you !!
So recently they come up with this great idea to take out the part where they time you on all your calls then the average it out to seconds like 2 min would be 120 and so on they took this out then the other day they say hey we have something new for you to sell and bring out this packet and say well you have to sell this and just the speach you have to say on this selling is like 4 min long so they took out the call time so we could sell bottom line is almost everyone that works there hates it it smells in the building the managers are smiling all the time all the reps are stressed out cause somebody is always telling you on the phone to screw yourself or suck this suck that and the sups dont give a dam about anything either. I have a chase accnt my paymnt was 2 weeks to get there also so i know what a huge company to be so lame at everything they do its so depressing to have some a--hole listening to you talk on the phone and tell you every little thing you do wrong i said one ya instaed of yes and they marked me off for it
I'm done. Love this site will visit here soon again

I worked for JP Morgan a total of 12 months in the lockbox Department in Houston, Downtown. I don't mind giving my name address or anything else because I want the world to know
If I have ever worked for a place that sucks, lockbox at JP Morgan Chase is definitely the place. The managers are so unprofessional, they really need to attend management skills, a couple of them can't speak any better English than a baby with no teeth. One doesn't know her tail from a hole in the ground.
They've cheated me out of a whole paycheck and then turned it around to make it look like I didn't know when payday was.
I have a lawsuit in now, so I feel optimistic every thing will work out for the better. In the meantime, I've made sure everybody I know cancels their account with them.

I am a former employee of Chase Bank and I am so happy that I no longer work there. I was so STRESSED out working. I used to go home everyday crying because of the stress.
I haven't worked at Chase for over two years and I still stress out at the thought of working there again.
To the customers, I ask that you at least try to be more friendly to the CSRs. We are only there to work so that we can pay our bills just like you. Every call I answered was from an angry customer because of something I had no control over.
I even had a customer who would not give me any information to look at her account. She only screamed at me and asked, no, demanded that I removed a charge that I could not see because I didn't have her information. The scary part of it all is that customers don't realize that we have all of their information (SSN, DOB, name, address, credit card number) in front of us and we could do as we pleased with it ( ex. get a credit card under your name with you ssn and never pay it back). But I ask that you thank the heavenly stars that some of us that are stressed out still feel that you should do unto others as you would have them do unto you.

I'm a former Chase employee who previously had a Chase bank account prior to accepting my position at a company bought out by Chase. I was told that a new account would be opened for me along with employee benefits (free checking, better loan opportunities etc...). Upon leaving the company for better opportunities and having a bank account with at least $40,000 in savings and approx. $7,000 in checking I find out a month and a half later that $3,700 in checks written out that month had all bounced.
When I called to find out why (and getting the normal run around of being transferred throughout the entire office) my checks had bounced, with more than enough money to cover my debt, I was told my assets were frozen and my account closed due to the fact that I was no longer a Chase employee. I asked if it was a normal practice to freeze someone's assets and close their account with prior notification, they told me that my resignation from the company acted as giving my consent to close my account and that I should have received a letter notifying me of the actions they were taking. I am yet to see that letter.
I asked if they could reopen an account, seeing as how they still had my money, they told me that I would have to wait for a check to be cut, which then could be brought back to the bank that screwed me in the first place to reopen a new account... needles to say I now have my money at North Fork Bank.
By the way they had no problem tapping my frozen assets for penelties charging me for insufficient funds on the checks that bounced. Chase Bank Sucks.

I have always been a give it your all employee wherever I have worked, and I find myself drowning at chase. I have been with Chase for just under 6 months, and I have started to realize just how much crap really goes on behind the scenes. A fellow employee has been with Chase since day #1 (TIME TO RETIRE!!), she complains all day long, about nothing. Unfortunately, we all need to earn a living, but shut up, or retire!!! Numerous complaints have been made about this person, yet management just throws their hands up, and says, " What can we do? " That's not an answer!! We recently had a contest for some stupid thing, and we were to raffle something off for the customers. My assistant manager pulled the name of a customer who has been select for many years, after going through the names for an entire day. The first hundred names were regular Joe customers, but obviously, they don't count. If you're a customer reading this, my advice is to take your accounts elsewhere. Unless you have more than 25,000 in your accounts, Chase doesn't care. And forget about small business accounts........ P.S....Fellow Employees....DON'T FORGET TO SMILE!!!!

i am employed by chase bank of texas. i work serviceline and all the comments are true. i had my schedule changed 3 times with less than 24 hours notice and they said they would write us up if we were late. our team leaders are never there and the racial diversity thing- whatever. i am not in the least bit predjudice but there are about 100 employees now since we are just hiring in and thereis only 1 white in charge. there are about 6 white people in the building. most of the higher ups are even predjudiced against other blacks. it is outrageous to go to work for the meager amount of money they pay us.some customers do need to understand though that when you take at least 140 calls a day about the same thing you tend to losse your personality.and it does get tiring to have people yell about insufficient funds charges when you know good and well to keep track of your money and dont write a check if you dont have it in your acct.dont expect me to give you a courtesy refund if you have done this multiple times this year .ok

I am a former employee of Chase Bank. I quit my job there for several reasons, the least of which is Chase's fair treatment of people in general. As a former employee I wish to remain anonomous for good reasons (death threats, stalkers, etc.).
Chase treated me poorly, they refused to give me back pay they owed me, they refused to cooperate with me during vacations and my wedding anniversary. Chase did everything to me as an employee that they do to their customers. While working there, I did run into a few customers that were satisfied with Chase. Heaven knows why.

I am a current employee at Chase 1 of 2 mortgage servicing offices. The office I work as was previously known as Advanta Mortgage, before chase came and bought us, like the do every other bank in the world, I absolutly loved my job. I loved the people I worked with and I loved the way we ran our business.
When chase came in the laid off about 150-200 employees....and what did they do 1 month later.... held a giant job fair and hired a million more. What kind of crock of shit is that? I mean really...why couldn't they just move the old employees to different positions instead of training new ones? Assholes!! Now we have a bunch of entry level monkeys working for us that don't know their ass from a hole in the ground. Not only did chase suck....but I actually think that they train their managers to be mean. My department pretty much stayed the same when chase moved in....except for the fact that our supervisors and managers are complete fuck heads now. I used to be friends with my super... now I hate her. Oh and what they hell is " the right relationship means everything" supposed to mean. I really think that that they should work on having a good realtionship with ther employees first. If you have bitter mad people working... you really think that they are going to be bright and cheery on the phone? I have millions of calls a day saying that they have been on the phone being transfered for an hour. Is that how we should treat our customers....NO! I hate working for chase.... and on top of everything have many labor commision issues against them. I think that I will file a Class action aginst them if I can find enough people to do it. DO YOU HAVE AN ISSUE WITH THEM? JOIN ME AND LET'S SUE THE FUCK OUT OF CHASE. THEY DESERVE IT! CHASE HAS EXTREAMLY BIG POCKETS.... I know, I work in the legal department!! We could get a shit load of money from them. If you want to join me please emial me at sdbabe01@aol.com. No longer will chase get away with treating their employees like shit.
Chase hates bad publicity....and that is what they are going to get!

I have been a Chase employee since 1992 (old Chase). Since the Chase-Chemical merger in 1996, I have seen this bank go down hill. The bank became trashy and the Chase name which at one time I was proud to work for, means nothing.
The Chemical senior managers took the Chase name and ran it through the mud.

I am an ex-employee. I worked in the branches in Upstate NY. The last two years have been hellish. Ever since Chemical merged with Chase we have not resembled the 'Upstate' Chase that I was trained to work for. I discovered in the end that my attitude of caring for and personally knowing my customers was not a valuable commodity. The same incompetent people were shuffled around to different positions depending on what new New York City or CT person 'took over' the upstate issue. Upstate always made money for the bank and suddenly we were being compared to the sales routines of the Bronx or Lower Manhattan. What does Rochester have in common with anything in NYC?I made my goal every quarter as a sales person and yet rarely got a bonus as the office would fail the random customer service surveys. Someone would be rated GOOD rather than FLAWLESSLY OUTSTANDING and we would lose points. "Oops, so sorry little slaves! No bonus for you but hey we will give you a Christmas party with an open bar to get trashed at!!"
The morale is beneath the word 'LOW' and the new sales people {who are other banks rejects} come in at higher pay. Very nice.
The managers double talk you until your head aches and you run screaming to the safety of the bathroom. I am gone now and a load bigger than I could ever imagine is lifted from my entire being. My new mission is to help others leave! Dear Chase what you have become is a nasty fat {phat} money grubbing stifling horrid place to work. My new job is like heaven on earth and it took me months not to be suspicious of everyone because of the back-stabbers at Chase. I work ten times harder for my new company than I did at Chase because this place treats me like a human and not like a piece of nothing. When Chase treated me like a person I worked hard and long and was an excellent employee.
Chase, do you really have so much money that you can afford to have 10, 15, 20 year employee dropping like flies? Do you like training new people constantly?

I have been an employee w/ this institution for 18+ years (formerly TCB). Recently I went to my direct supervisor with several complaints about the way managerial duties were being pushed to non-manager employees. I was told if that is the way I feel then maybe I should look for something else. After 18 years, that is the response I get. Previously the same manager had complemented me on my efficiency, hard work, and loyalty. What a crock. The little person means nothing except a head to stand on, while management is getting moved up.
The motto from upper management seems to be, DO MY JOB AND DO NOT COMPLAIN IF YOU WANT A PAYCHECK.

Chase's problem is that they overemphasize their structure. I work in an "operations" area where 80% of what we do is actually risk mitigation and not operations. This is not was I applied for!!! To add, I work under a management which wouldn't know a good employee is he/she saw one. (NOTE: I am trying to keep these comments as clean as possible but, I'm sure other current and former employees know exactly what I mean.)
Chase Mtg. has mandated that every employee must attend a Customer Service class. This is all well and good but, if Chase can't even focus on retaining good employees, you'll never be able to acheive any sort of good customer service (or any good service, for that matter).
Enough with those silly service stars and even the stock options are useless unless the stock price somehow goes up (novel idea?).
HOW ABOUT INCREASING THE PAY TO A LEVEL COMMENSURATE WITH SKILLS AND ACHEIVEMENTS RATHER THAN WHO KISSES THE MOST A--.

To whom it may concern:
I do work at chase credit card here in tempe, AZ for the credit card customer service dept. I will admit that yes, there are some employees who work there that are uneducated, incompatent, rude people that work amongst me, however, there are a majority of us who like our jobs, and do know what we are doing. If you have a problem with Chase it is not our job to have you take it all out on us, the unlucky one who had to get your call. Please remember that we are humans too and have to go home to our families just like you. How would you like going to work everyday to get bitched out and called every name in the book by some asshole stranger and still smile for the next call. It is not the easiest job in the world. Please remember this, if somebody called you and asked you nicely to help them, you are going to be a hell of alot more inclinded to do so then if they called demanding you to do this or that. Courtesy gets you everywhere, rudeness gets you nowhere.
Example, if you call to have your late fee removed and ask me as nice as you can I will be glad to do so (provided you do not do this every month) but if you call and demand I take your late fee off or your going to close your account and do this and that, it is rare that I will do it for you. And last but not least, I understand if you are mad at Chase, your blood is boiling and your panties are in a bunch, I am also a customer, I feel the same way at times, but please remember when I answer the phone, I am a human being doing my job the best that I can to support my family, I am not Chase, i did not personally decline your check or assess you a late fee, talk to me like a human and I will treat you like one. Call me a bitch or a cunt or whatever your word of choice is and believe me I will call you one too, you just won't hear it. To those of you who do understand this when you call, I apprecitate it very much, you truly are the best part ! of our day at work.
Thank you, once again, from a Chase employee who is just as tired of you as you are of us.

I am requesting information from Chase Mortgage Corp. employeees regarding the following types of activities demanded by supervisors or discussed in training sessions:
1. Delay of payment posting to deliberately cause an account to go greater than 30 days past due, resulting in assessment of a late fee.
2. Applying payments to escrow instead of to the monthly amount due.
3. In the Collections Department: Delays in posting misapplied funds to the property category, ensuring that the loan goes to foreclosure.
4. Foreclosure Dept.: Delays in handling issues with previously misapplied funds so that mortgagee is forced to pay what is "owed" or lose home in foreclosure auction.
5. Insurance Department: If a notice of cancellation for non-payment is received from the insurance agency, and the escrow account shows that the premium was paid by Chase: Are you instructed to authorized hazard insurance from a Chase subsidiary rather than question the cancellation notice with the insured/insurer.
6. Is Chase targeting current loans with an APR less than the current rate for new first mortgages for harrassment, so that people go to another mortgage co. and the loan is discharged and off the books? Are employees directed to do this?
Background:
In May 1998, I received a notice from Chase that my mortgage payment was being adjusted upward $157/mo to cover an escrow shorfall incurred in the previous year. I called customer service and the rep. told me that the adjustment was to cover hazard insurance policy of $1330/yr. The rep. said that they had received a notice of cancellation from the insurance agent for nonpayment of premium in November of 1997. I never received any notices from Chase or the insurance agent. I asked the rep. if there was a note on the escrow record that showed a premium payment to the agent and he said yes. When I asked him why they would pay my agent and never question his notice of cancellation and then take out a prohibitively exorbitant policy with, I assume, an insurance provider owned by Chase, he said that I could dispute the charge. I called my insurance agent to get a certificate of coverage, but he had left the business. The company that inherited his records initially could not find my file and refused to issue the certificate because the agent's records showed I was refunded the premium, which was not true. Anyway, the insurance company told me there was nothing they could do, because the agent was no longer there. I think he may have pocketed the premium and I have alerted the State of Michigan Attorney General.
In July of 1999, Chase lost my regular mortgage payment check. I received a notice from Collections that my mortgage was now 2 payments past due. I stopped payment on the original check and sent a check for two payments. Chase applied part of the money to one payment and the rest to the "escrow shortfall". The next month, after receiving a notice that I was again two payments past due, I sent in another check for two payments. Chase again appliec part to one payment and the remainder to the escrow account. Unknown to me, I was now 2 payments past due and, in trying to straighten it out with Collections, my account became due for the next months payment, making me 3 payments due, and the account was sent to foreclosure.
In July I sent Chase $3,500 for three months mortgage payments (which total $2600 + 900 in "fees") in order to prevent the sheriffs sale of my house. Basically, the deal was: pay up or lose your house and we'll straighten everything out later.
In August I got a notice from Chase collections that I owe two months back payments plus $900 in attorney costs and "fees" totalling $3,200. I called foreclosure and they said that the funds sent in July were again misapplied and were trying to straighten it out. I called Collections and told them this, but they said that if I didn't send the entire amount owed, the account would go to foreclosure again and I would have 45 days to pay before auction. I contacted the attorney general's office and was forwarded to the licensing division that handles consumer complaints. I filed a formal complaint and was told that they work directly with Chase's lawyers in New York.
If they threaten to auction my house, I am going to file for bankruptcy protection to prevent it. I do not have $6,700 total to send to Chase in July and August.
One thing that I did notice was that in the middle of the first foreclosure, the rep. referred me to a mortgage broker to try to work things out by taking out a new first mortgage that would consolidate my credit card accounts. Of course, since my current interest rate is less than the prevailing interest rate, I suspect that Chase is harrassing it's low interest loan holders into refinancing. Also, since I have had to be late on my credit card payments to come up with the funds for Chase's financial demands, my credit rating is blown.
The lowest first mortgage rate that I can get on a nonconventional mortgage is 11.5%.
If any of you have knowledge, have been instructed to do or have procedural documents that substantiate policies to harrass, cause accounts to appear late to collect fees, have been instructed or taught to delay posting or corrections to postings, or have been instructed to obtain high rate hazard insurance, please contact me at: uimcea1@hotmail.com
I would also like other mortgage holders to also contact me if you are having any of these problems:
The health insurance industry is currently under a class action suit for similar practices where employees were instructed, even policies written for, harassment of policyholders and refusal to pay claims.
I am committed to pushing this complaint all the way to a private lawsuit. However, if these practices are widespread, to a class action suit. Further, employees are protected from firing and harassment under whistleblower laws designed especially for this kind of fraud.
Please help. Also, are there any reputable mortgage companies out there who do first mortgages for people with a lousy credit report?

Chase's recent condemnation of the Boy Scouts of America, because of their ban on homosexuals, is the last straw! I can't understand what Chase has become? "Employer of Choice"? Get real! What has happened to the old way of doing business? We employees show all good faith in the company, good work habits, good customer relations and etc. What do we get? A meeting with "the man" saying we are not giving our all and underperforming. What do we get in return? A slap in the face saying "it's not good enough". If it's not good enough, why don't they try and sit on our jobs and let us rate them! Then we have a legitimate argument. Another thing concerning cost cutting, how much can they cost cut? The more they cut, the less they get by quality and service. They are so concerned about a "efficient" running operations? How "smart" or "efficient" can you run a business if they keep cutting costs and taking away the tools to run a smooth operation? They also claim that we need to be more "proactive" than retroactive? Spend some damn money and get us the tools needed to be "proactive". Guess the big man does not get his bonus for this year! Maybe the heat is coming down on him due to him not performing just like we are? Things that make you go Hmmmm?

I am a former Chase employee who worked in what they classified a "mega" branch. I was there for five and a half extremely long years. I worked as a sales rep. As a sales office, your manager assigned you "goals". WHen I resigned, my manager explained to me that as a manager, he was instructed to set the goals so that no more than 40% of the employees met there. So, basically you were set up to fail. Also, if you did not make your goal three times, you would be dismissed. Also, Chase offered a product called Lifeline Checking/Savings. These products are for lower income people who could not maintain the standard minimum balances and wanted to avoid Chase's outrageous fees. We were reprimanded for opening these accounts, and on a few different occasions, we were told not to sell these accounts.
I guess that this is what they mean by "The Right Relationship is Everything". Anyway, I could go on for a very long time, but I think that you all get the message.

I do feel that due to technology restrictions, "we" Chase employees are unable to service the complete needs of the customers, WHICH SHOULD BE THE NUMBER ONE PRIORITY. Please be aware that all people labled under "CHASE" are not sludge dwelling dirt bags. Most of us are hard working average people trying to make our way through this crazy world. I honestly would like to give an apology to those with adverse situations due to Chase errors, or ignorance. I would like to thank you for being "my" customer!!!!!!!

This company sucks the BIG ONE!!!!! They only care about certain facts and don't look at details or ask questions to find out the real problems that are going on with their employees. They don't care when employees file a sexual harassament complaint, hell even when it is written THEY LOSE IT SO THEY CAN CLAIM THEY HAVE NO RECORD OF IT!!!! They allow the managers, supervisors and quality assurance people get away with murder and don't give a shot about the customer service reps who worked their butts off to make everyone look good. Customer Service Reps put up with all the BULL---- from everybody and not ONE PERSON THERE AT CHASE GAVE A FU--.
I had a friend who was fired from Chase because she filed a sexual harrassment complaint against a supervisor and low and behold she was then fired because they claimed that she did something that she didn't do. She tried to fight it with Chase but they wouldn't listen to her - only to what they wanted to hear and they never even investigated anything. DO NOT TRUST THIS COMPANY OR THE EMPLOYEES THERE THEY WILL SUCK YOU DRY OF EVERYTHING THAT YOU HAVE AND WON"T EVEN BLINK!!!! Plus they have sexual abusers and child molesters that work there, and they allow their higher manageament staff to sexually harass and threaten the employees.

I am a current employee of Chase bank of Texas. I have been an employee since in Texas we were known as Texas Commerce. I have never worked in New York but know all about their operations and all of the things that go on within Chase Manhattan. I just have to say that I truely believe (in Texas) the morale of Texas employees has been going down hill since we took the name Chase.

Where should I begin? I started w/the bank just after to MHT merger w/Chemical. I loved my job then..looked foward to coming to work even...unlike now.
I had known through the grape vine (the smoking lounge..when we had one) that the bank's lease was coming up in 2000. Nobody belived me. Then they started to fix up the Jericho site & all hell broke loose. The managers had taken their reps off the phone to let us know about the relocation of "some" areas to Houston. We weren't allowed to speak about it amongst ourselves.
Many of my co-workers were planning on leaving the bank when the migration started. I knew I wouldn't have a chance in hell of landing another job w/all the benefits the bank offered (plus I had only a few more mnths until I was vested in the retirement plan).
So I decided to relocate to TX. What a mistake! I regret my decision everyday I wake up knowing I have to go to that call center. And I've asked if I could be released from my contract & was given a big "NO". I even asked if a could work for Chase still, just in another dept., again "NO".
I was given the cold shoulder from everyone in the call center form day 1. Is it because I'm white or because I'm from NY? I don't know. The people here are afraid to answer. There is a big race issue in this call center..that is something that I was brought up not to tollerate. It never mattered to me what race anybody was. I've mentioned this to my manager, who said she would take care of it...nothing's changed. Do you know how hard it is to go to work & get burning stares from people for 8 1/2 hrs a day? Now I do.
I also had a problem w/the relocation people. If you are one of the lucky victims (as I like to call myself),make sure that you take pictures of everything you own. Document everything...you may never see it again! And if you do,it probably won't be in the same condition it was in when it left your possesion. Trust me on this one. If "relo" tells you anything..GET IT IN WRITING!!! Or they will screw you as they've screwed me.
I was finally at the point where I contacted my lawyer in NY (who said he would take my case) & when mngt found out, I was brought aside & told that "99% of the people that bring a law suit against the bank are no longer w/the co."..I took this as a hint that my time w/this co is running short.
And at this point I don't really give a crap anymore. All of the TX reps feel threatened by the NY reps...and do not hide it. They let you know they don't like you..pointing at you even. You won't receive imp memos or updates. Or be told about anything that going on until it's already over. I know this from exp.
So if you do decide to put your life in the banks hands, just remember that they will squeeze every last drop of blood from your dead twitching body & then throw you in a ditch..to never be seen again. By the way.. there are alot of ditches here.
I know that they will know who I am by this..but I just don't care anymore..I'm burned out. People tell me to go to the newspapers about the way that things have gone for me..but the bank will probably deny that I ever worked for them. Does the Mafia know about how the bank works? They might be able to make more $ & have it be legal.

I am a former employee of chase, and I am very concerned about their upper management. They get the greatest pay and benefits, yet they right now are the biggest risk. An example of this is to watch some of them try to use a computer. They simply can't. Now I understand that some of the upper management can use the computer on their desks, but I would say over half really can not. They are heavily dependent on their staff.
Upper management is amazing how out of touch they are with addressing problems. I do not think the majority of them take the time to actually look at their responsibilities. It is de-motivational to be in a meeting when a problem is being addressed by a director, and you realize that he has absolutely no clue on what's going on. And you don't dare say anything, because if you do you know it will cost you your job. That's another thing that needs to be addressed, is the catch 22 at Chase. If you know that something is wrong, or so completely inefficient it should be illegal to use company funds to support it, Chase should have a realistic internal place where you can be completely safe to report a bad situation. One that protects the employees job, that reports it.
These two factors are making Chase into a very lousy investment for the future and a very poor choice for employment. No matter what kind of employee chase hires, if it is leadership is out of touch, unskilled for, or too antiquated with current technologies and financial opportunities then it will be the top dogs of the company that drag this company to the ground.
Also, since ego and popularity out weigh work ethics and competence, it makes employees feel demean at times. Shit roles down hill, and it's amazing how many mistakes are blamed by incompetent people on competent ones.

I am the daughter of a Chase employee who works behind-the-scenes in the corporation. This past fall Chase informed my father that he and several thousand of his co-workers would have to leave NY city and move to Dallas, Texas. My father is in his late fifties and has to stay w/ Chase to earn his retirement plan. He's lived in NYC his whole life but has to leave just so he can get a retirement plan, since he's only been with Chase for several years. Personally I can't afford to go see my parents by plane. Not only that, but it seems quite apparent that Chase is only in it for the money: they can continue to pay their NY transplants the same salary (which will seem way larger in TX) and hire Texans for much less than hiring New Yorkers.
I also heard that when Chase built their headquarters at MetroTech in downtown Brooklyn, the city of New york gave them huge tax breaks on the project b/c Chase agreed to hire a certain number of employees from the nearby Brooklyn neighborhoods. Chase is already packing up for the Lone Star State without having filling their promised quota of employees from the vicinity of MetroTech.

Hello, I just wanted to let you all know that I actually agree with alot of your comments.
I am a customer service representative at Chase Manhattan Mortgage. Please don't blame us for the shit going on there. We know the systems are always "down", we know payment processing lost your payment, we know you shouldn't have gotten that late charge, we know everything about Chase is totally unorganized, and every time we address our supervisors about the problems they just say they are working on it.
The customers are not the only ones getting a run around, us CSR's are also. The insurance department never pays the homowners insurance, the tax department never pays the taxes, then when we ask them to pay they say it will take 30days. You as customers are not the only ones that have to deal with that stuff. The tax department and the insurance department also do NOT have a phone# to take inbound calls, CSR's cannot call them either, so PLEASE don't yell at us for this. If you wonder why we are rude to you customers sometimes is because you are blaming us for your problems, you think we don't know that Chase is shitty? We know, but as just reps, we don't have any say in how things are run. If we didn't have bills to pay, and if Chase did not pay us so well with all the money they are ripping off of you we would quit, but unfourtunatley money makes the world go round.
So, the next time you call Chase customer service think about this. It is not that we don't care, but every time we try to make it better we get the run around just like you. And talking to our supervisor is not going to get you anywhere either!! So quit asking!!
P.S. It is not illegal to raise your payment because of your escrow account. If you don't want your payment to increase don't have an escrow account. Some of you people are just ignorant!!!! It is common sense, if your taxes go up by 300$ your payment is bound to increase!! Do you honestly think Chase is going to just pay your taxes out of pocket and not ask to be reimbursed?!?!? Plus when asking to be reimbursed they are not even charging you interest!!! They just basically gave you another loan interest free!! Never thought of it that way did you??? That is because you are stupid!!!!! (this is not directed to all of you just the many customers yelling at ME because there taxes increased) Thank You.

I am a former Chase employee. I worked in the Unit Trust Division at 4NYP. I must admit...it was like' working in a real life soap opera. Golfing, sleeping around, and backstabbing are all part of the working environment. For example, as a former officer of the bank, you are required to attend sexual harassment training. They tell you not to act a certain way at work or else you can be fired for sexual harassment. Meanwhile, a certain supervisor was sleeping with one of her employees, and her boss knew of this!! When another employee went to human resources to complain about the situation, nothing was done about it! The supervisor denied the affair and the individual who complained was reprimanded by the department head. The funny thing about it is the supervisor and her employee ended up getting married to one another.
All the department heads do in that place is play golf 3 times a week from Memorial Day to Labor Day and never get charged a day off. They have a whole scam running in that division. It's a joke. Now I was told that most of the people who actually do the work in that place are going to be laid off due to the division relocating to Texas. What a shame. I'm sure the department heads will probably end up with a nice severance package while the people doing the actual work will be struggling to find new jobs.

I am currently a Chase employee and have been for 5 years. I began as a teller and agree with every single complaint given from tellers and everyone else who works in the branch. I have noticed that most of the complaints on this site are from employees that worked or work on the retail side of the company. I now work for the investment management group in the private bank. It is a department that only manages high net worth individuals and companies. Those are really who Chase caters to anyway. However, because of our high profit, the employees are given many incentives and bonuses that beat anything I ever saw in retail banking. I am not happy with every aspect of Chase but in this department, the managers are generous and treat you with much more respect than I ever recieved as a teller! The retail bank (tellers, serviceline, online, ccoc, etc.) make their spending budget by selling loans, CD's, new accounts and things like that. That is why the managers only care about selling, and neglect the employees needs or wants. When I worked in the branch, I hated Chase! Now, I have more days off and benefits than most of my friends and family.
As a customer, I would never in my life bank at Chase if I wasn't an employee. The prices are outrageous! I think Chase wants to eliminate the middle class people and only have customers that are ranked in the upper or high class division (rich people)!

I love this site! I am in agreement to most of the employee posts here, after being with Chase for 3 years I have seen a lot happen. I "migrated" from TCB/Chase Texas to New York recently - on my own accord. HR didn't even give me a cost of living increase! Plus on top of that, they almost didn't give me my increase at all - I noticed it on my paycheck. They said "they didn't know I was going to get one". Hello! Could you work in NY on a meager Texas salary? They started me at the bottom of the scale, just like a new-hire.
I am currently looking for another job, but I love New York!

I am a former Chase employee. I worked there for less than a year, as I coudln't take it anymore. They were paying less than a horses ass & hiring others at thousands more.Being responsible for everything under the sun, with absolutely no recognition. The supervisors would either be in meetings laughing their ass off or talking about everyday adventures. Absolutely NO WORK was done by them. They did scold & scream & hollor and threaten & put you down in fron of your other co-workers though, Hey doesn't that count for something. They are a bunch of idiots in suits. That just about raps it up. No customer service skills,no degress,no respect for employees & even in some situations no respect for themselves. A bunch of fat slobs sitting on their fanny accumulating all the incentive money the representatives who bust a-- should get. But you know - I'm gone & a hell of alot happier without those airheads.
So if you think your job is bad honey, be damned happy you're not there!!!!!!

I am a Chase Employee. I was with Chemical Bank pre-merger.
Chase is selectively moving jobs outside New York City. We are making millions, but management is just too GREEDY. GREED is winning OUT. I would put my money in a local S&L which has its roots in NYC.
Hundreds of my colleagues are scared of losing jobs and we hear nothing. While Senior Management is doing quite well through stock options, most employees are grateful to get raises between 3-4%. Chase throuhg its HR DEPT. states that its an employer of choice. This is utter nonsense. No noe cares, people get packages and many of my colleagues with 20 years plus experienced are frightened.

Human resources wants nothing to do with us. And there is a certain Human resource rep that is black balling me from posting to another department within Chase. I feel that you should be considered by your job performence not because the hr rep may not like you. All the service line reps are very angry at this point. They just want to know when to expect this move. we would like a date that really is not to much to ask. some of the reps have been there a long time. we just want to know where our lives will be at in the next few months. If there is anyone who may be reading this that may know something as far as a date when service line will be in Texas please post it.

I am a former employee of Chase, in the Credit Card side of the business. I worked there for over 5 years, and recentley left, tired of getting the run around about what they were going to do better my career and salary. I can promise you that the problems at Chase run across the board. In my position I had a lot of interaction with other departments and other staff, including managment. What I heard in general was from almost everyone was a very dissatisfied group of people who felt mistreated, underpaid, and often hurt. Chase prides it self on trying to be the employer of Choice, they are not close to that by any means. In my years there I witnessed sexual harassment on many occassians, and not one of the suspects every lost their jobs, moreover usually the poor victim was the one out of a job. In one case, I was a witness at 18 years old, to an act of sexual harassment by a manager to an employee, I was told by this manager that if I said anything or even if he was caught somehow, that he would make sure I never worked for another bank the rest of my life. I can laugh at that now, because banks don't pay squat, and I won't ever work for one again. I have seen vice presidents accused of sexual harassment get consoled by HR, while the employee gets moved to another department. Chase also prides themselves with being a diverse company, with no racial issues. Again they FAIL!! They actually have quotas to meet, where a certain number of different ethnic groups must be employed in each department/division.
Here is an idea, hire the person best qualified for the job, not based on the color of their skin!! One last important note, Chase DOES NOT PAY anywhere near a fair market value. From customer service rep levels to management, Chase underpays their staff by a huge amount. Reps can make 2 to 4 dollars more an hour, other professionals and management can make 10,20,30+ thousand a year more at other companies. I got frustrated enough to shop the market a few months ago and fell out of my chair when I was receiving offers for twice my Chase salary, obviously I left Chase and I'm better off for it. For those who say if your not happy leave, let me tell you that there is a true fear running through the minds of those unhappy at Chase. Fear of what might happen to them if they tell HR of what they have seen or heard, with good reason. Or a fear that there is not a better opportunity out there, well it can't get any worse. Can it???

As an employee of the former Texas Commerce Bank and a current employee of Chase in Texas, I can tell you there is a definite difference in the attitude toward doing business the way we did it here in Texas and in New York. Chemical and then Chase (Chemical bought Chase) owned TCB for ten years, but only really imposed their management style and marketing in Texas last year. TCBers were team players and tried as a team to target quality customers while providing friendly service to all customers. Chase is an organization of individual businesses managed from New York that "silo" their customers and marketing strategies for each business, such as Credit Cards, Mortgages, Loans, Deposits, Trust, etc. The old Chase organiation is the bunch that has the credit cards and the other small customer stuff. Each "business" wants to make $$$ anyway it can and while doing it, they ignore team work and best practices between businesses. They really expect the New! York way of business will naturally work in Texas. In the NE, they don't have much competition, so they are arrogant about what they think works. Only in Texas can you get an installment loan using collateral other then CD's. In NY, they can't figure out how to do it, so they don't write the loans. Their business concept is "If you can't figure out how to do it, don't do it". In Texas we used to say, "If it's profitable, get the best people to do it, then do it".
Chase is a commercial, money center, investment bank, NOT a small business or retail bank. If you or your business do not have millions of dollars, they really don't have an interest in keeping your individual business or account. The Credit Card business makes money on volume, so even if everyone complaining on this site were multiplied ten fold, it wouldn't reduce their profits noticably. Check their rates on Mortgages and CDs, they are always the highest. You are an idiot if you are a small customer banking with Chase. All the PR about values and community service projects is just to keep the regulators off Chase's back. The small customer of Chase (or any any large bank) would do better at a Credit Union or Savings & Loan. On the flip side, if you are a large organization with money to spend for fees, come on in. Chase is at the top of its form with the big money and they make lots of it this way.
The Chase way of doing retail business coupled with a New York attutude is a deadly, customer killing combination. When the competition in the Southwest makes a joke of Chase's "Get accounts any way you can" theory, then maybe some of that TCB way of keeping good customers will return. Blame bad service on stupid policy and arrogant New York attitudes.

I am a former Chase employee. I worked there for less than a year,as I couldn't take it anymore. They were paying less than a horses a-- & hiring others at thousands more. Being responsible for everything under the sun, with absolutely no recognition.
The supervisors would either be in meetings laughing their ass off or talking about everyday adventures. Absolutely NO WORK was done by them. They did scold & scream & holler and threaten & put you down in front of your other co-workers though. Hey doesn't that count for something. They are a bunch of idiots in suits. That just about wraps it up. No customer service skills,no degress,no respect for employees & even in some situations no respect for themselves. A bunch of fat slobs sitting on their fanny accumulating all the incentive money the representatives who bust a-- should get. But you know-I'm gone & a hell of alot happier without those airheads.
So if you think your job is bad honey, be damned happy you're not there!!!!!!

As a former employee who was 'RIF'ed in 1993, I love this website. RIF - reduction in force.
What a joke - they got rid of people with health claims and family problems and those approaching pension age. I was so upset, I closed my Chase account and went to Chemical and now guess what - Chemical is Chase. YUCK.
Thank you - I was looking for a Chase website to find out about jobs there - NEVER AGAIN.

Ok, well here is the deal.
I currently work at Chase Texas in their IT department. Things when I started were great (of course it was TCB back then). Then our merger happened and NY decided that they hold all of the cards and that they have a better way of doing things. Well all I have to say to that is B.S.
To all of you consumers out there let me just tell you what happened here in the last 7 months. We start back last year when after the merger Chase NY came out with their "MARKET READY" plan. This included a plan to move the Texas mainframe and NCC to New Jersey (Somerset). Their justification to this was that NJ could handle the operation better and also would have a better disaster recovery site. Truth be known this was an attempt by the suits to justify a large new building in NJ that they went over budget in building. Also, the main mainframe is in NY.
Now how is it better disaster recovery if you keep both your eggs in the same basket? (Just across ! the river?). Well they announced this and of course it was a mass exit of numbers of workers in their programming department (good for business right?) Part two of their plan was to move the Houston branch of the Network Control Center to NJ. This would allow NY more control over the networks in Houston by keeping a small number of (disgruntled) employees in Houston to be what they call a "Field Services" group. Well this is a bright idea. Every time there is a network issue in Texas it first has to be funneled into New York or NJ to be looked at by a bunch of underpaid and from what we hear surely over worked people in NJ. Then when they cant figure it out, and a few thousand dollars in losed profit later, they send it down to where the for mentioned Field Services group already knows what is wrong and has it fixed. I can tell you that this has cost our customers (both internally and externally) greatly. Now I read the post from the lady in Service Line, and I do understand ! her frustration. However it is not our execs that are doing this. The punches are coming from up there.
Unfortunately this is the only medium right now where Chase employees can post our discomfort and disapproval to what is happening.
I encourage each employee to post here and also for the Webmaster of this site to forward each and every comment to Chase's HR. This is the only way that we can make sure that we can keep our jobs while speaking with our own voice. This all can be changed. However it never will be unless we actually raise our voice. Even if it has to be done in secret. People, if you want to help please do. Help stop the changed and lower the interest rates here at Chase. Thank you for all of your time and for lending your ear. I work in Service Line and I feel sorry for all those people who are unhappy with service received from us. However, we work pretty darn hard to do our job with absolutely little or no support from management - whoever they are these days - because they are off doing their own thing or trying to figure out what they are going to do after Jericho moves to Texas.
I have a sense about a work ethic and I try to do my best, however, I don't always receive the guidance and support that I need to assist all my customers. Maybe the executive in Texas should take a look at what really is going on in New York and stop trying to get everything in HER neck of the woods. Think about the people she is displacing because of her own wants and wishes.

I worked for Chase Manhattan Mortgage as a Mortgage Consultant. Here are a few reasons I quit: Chase is so cheap, they pay $20,000 to start as an MC with the promise of high incentive bonus based on the volume in mortgages we originate, but with the market as slow as it is (actually, with Chase's rates as uncompetetive as they are), we're making almost nothing in bonuses. I took a PAY CUT to go from the collections unit (another fiasco itself, as you might know or imagine) to mortgage consulting based on this promise! No, there are no guarantees that the market won't change, but at least we could TRY to remain competitive. Another reason I left is that our incentive is now affected by customer service scores. Is that a bad idea? Doesn't it seem fair that we are in some way held accountable for our customers' satisfaction? There are two problems with that. First, a couple weeks after closing, the customer is sent a survey card to fill out, asking them to rate each Chase representative they had to deal with...the Mortgage Consultant (took the application), the Home Loan Analyst (processed the paperwork, ordered title work, etc.) and the Closer. A customer with a bad overall experience will, I imagine, very often rate everyone poorly, so that the less than acceptable performance of one of the employee affects the scores - and the bonus - of another! Here's the kicker. The rating system on that survey that the customer is sent is as follows.
Superior.
Excellent.
Good.
Fair. Poor.
(Superior may not be the top - It just seems that there was something above excellent and I can't quite remember exactly what it's called - but that's not the point) If the employee is rated Poor or Fair, it's counted against him on bonus and employee evaluation (which affects the year end bonus). If the employee is rated Superior or Excellent, it's favorable (the employee get get up to 125% [or maybe more, I think] of the bonus he would have gotten). IF THE EMPLOYEE IS RATED GOOD, IT DOESN'T COUNT AGAINST HIM ON THE EMPLOYEE EVALUATION, BUT IT DOES COUNT AGAINST HIS BONUS! (Chase doesn't want to just be "good." Somebody at chase needs to get a dictionary to find out just what "good" means. Or, at least tell the customer what they THINK good means, because the two may have very different ideas, and the mortgage consultant will very often suffer financially for it). Just before i left, I found out (as it was pointed out by our team leader in a meeting) that over the next quarter, one of our best mortgage consultants will get 75% of the bonus he'd normally recieve because he got six Excellents and two Goods!!! I got over 100% of my bonus because the TWO surveys I got back were Excellent. If I were this guy, I would have been infurated almost to the point of quitting on the spot. But management has a way of making even the most egregious offenses seem fair. Maybe to some suckers, but not to me.
Adios, Chase!

Reading through the comments, I find one consistent theme: Poor management, low pay, and job migrations.
As a former employee(in management), I have to agree with most of the comments.
Poor management and low pay were evident from the beginning of my former career there. I accepted that. The one thing I found hardest to accept was the migration. I was very lucky. I transferred to the west just prior to the migrations. Promotions came too quickly. I saw myself and others handling jobs we were not qualified to be doing. I felt so sorry for the employees who were left back east who were much more qualified to assist the customer. What has driven the migration: Money. Wages are suppressed (about $2/hr less per employee), utilities are much lower(electricity, telephones, etc), and building/maintenance cost are at a third of east coast costs.
Before I left, the going salary for the CEO was in excess of $6000 per hour. Upper management has a large stake in keeping cost down. Even if it is at the expense of the workers who actually represent Chase.
There are those who have benefitted from the migrations: Stock holders, mid to upper management, new hires(quick promotions+experience), and people seeking to take advantage of a lack of expertise.
I know that with each promotion I was given(about every 6 months), that was someone elses job back east. Please accept my apologies. And yes, Chase sucks.

I use to work for Chase and to let you all know, while you are writing to complain about service and charges or calling, they are having food days. This is almost every other day for the Newark, Delaware site.
If there is anything that the management is good at, it is having a food day to try to boost the morale of the employees. Great incentive. Who could ask for more. This is what Chase management has to offer their employees.
What ever happen to take care of the employees and they will take care of the customers?

Wow!! I am searching for a job, in HR actually, and I went in to look to see if Chase might have anything posted for a senior level HR position. Apparently they must have taken their site down over the July 4th weekend, maybe to do some maintenance or something. Anyway, I came across your site. Holy shit... I've never seen anything like this before. After reading the comments, I wouldn't go near that mother jumpin' place as a customer and I certainly wouldn't want to hitch my career to that chuckwagon (for the benefit of all of those folks formerly with the Texas Commerce Bank).
Good luck with this site, and your mission. Have you tried contacting 60 Minutes? Or Michael Moore? For what it's worth, I've done some banking with a number of banks in NYC area, and by far the best has been North Fork Bank on Long Island. I got a home mortgage from them a few years back and they had the best rates by far, and extremely helpful, pleasant, delightful folks. They acted like they really wanted me as a customer, and worked extra hard to explain stuff (I was a first time home buyer), and were very accessible. They returned phone calls when they said they would, if they couldn't answer a question right away, everything was completed before the dates they gave me etc., and they continue to answer all my kind of loopy questions about escrow payments, remaining balance etc fully with no bouncing around to reps and supervisors.
This site is a really good example to me, of the potential power of the internet, to level the playing field between the big dogs and us little guys. Keep up the good work. And thanks for helping with my job search. I just crossed Chase off the list.

Worked for a Chase subsidiary in Dallas 1980-1983. My favorite story: I was paid through a checking account at "The Chase" in NYC (ever try to live in Dallas with a NY bank account?). I transferred that money to my local bank. My local bank called to advise that my Chase transfer had bounced. All employee checking was handled in one specific branch in New York -- if you were in that branch, you were a Chase employee. When I called to find out what was wrong, I was told they returned my check because they couldn't find my signature card. No call, no effort to contact me or make an effort because I was a Chase employee. The money's there, but we can't find a card - boom! return the check. Only time in my life I ever had a check returned. Made them pay the fees and write letters of apology though.
Second favorite: Among other things, I was responsible for the Human Resources function for our regional offices. When I called one February to ask why W2 forms had not been received by employees I was told they had not yet been mailed. I reminded the HR officer that W2s were supposed to be mailed by January 31. The response? "We don't care about that. We're The Chase."

In return, we employees are rewarded with an excellent stock option plan due to all of your late charges and fees. So if you cant beat the bureaucracy, join the bureaucracy!!!

Yes. Chase sucks big time. I quit and if you wonder why your finances are screwed here are a few reasons:
People with degrees answer the phones. Non-degree people are the managers and hate the degreed people and do anything possible to give them a hard time. You suffer when you call, no help.
Managers don't know anything about management.
Job coaches don't speak to managers and are not accountable to them, and have no experience.
Quality managers run the job coaches, but don't talk to regular managers.
Section managers are out there and just tell jokes all day.
Only the phone reps do Chases bidding, and our Tech team hates computers, go figure.
Phone reps have to call on job coaches for assistance, job coaches hate the phone reps and don't help them, reps call on managers, managers tell the reps to call the job coaches, the job coaches say it's not their job to help the reps, the reps tell managers, managers tell the reps to call the job coaches and the circle goes on and on and on. And all of the coaches are arrogant, dumb, messy, and don't follow bank policy, rules or managers wishes.

It's strange how I stumbled accross this website. I was actually looking up Chase's webpage. I'm not surprise, though. Actually I think this site does justice for the little guy. It's time to take a good look at corporate America. All those complaints I've read are true. I've watched departments fall appart, people fall appart, and site moral destroyed. Chase has finally reach a level where the need to cutback money has cost them.
As an owner of Chase stock, it's nice to know that the company is conservative, but as unhappy as I am, It best to cash out the stock and run with the money.....because things get worse before they get better. This site is a symptom of things to come...

I'm a former employee of Chase Manhattan Bank's Cleveland, Ohio service center. My employment was terminated on April 27, 1998 on account of "excessive absenteeism". I've since contracted the services of a competent attorney and I'm suing Chase for violation of the Family and medical Leave Act ("FMLA"). I am still unemployed.
During February of 1998, (after 12 months of continuous service, I was diagnosed with a potentially serious health condition that required on going medical visits to my doctor. All necessary (FMLA) permission was secured from Chase Medical prior to any leave. Several months later, after granting the leave, Chase concluded that the absences were not on account of a serious health condition. I received notice of the alleged "deficiency" on the 15th of April 1998, while assembling the supplementary materials, was terminated on April 27, 1998.
Chase's strategy is to ignore my claim. Chase's reasoning is that it would cost me too much money to seek redress through the courts. I know that other former and current employees have been abused regarding attendece and FMLA. If we can get together and compare our cases, we may have a class action law suit.

I was an employee of Chemical Bank/Chase Manhattan Bank for 7 years and I have a lot of horror stories that I could share. But I will share with you the most shocking! I worked at the Chase Manhattan Bank located at 360 East 72nd Street in Manhattan. I was a victim of sexual harassment and wrongful termination. Three of the bank's high ranking officers repeatedly sexually harassed me and one of the high ranking officers repeatedly tried to get me to perform in one of his pornographic films. You see this high ranking officer was a x rated film performer and agent responsible for recruting people into the adult film industry. I complained to my managers about the sexual harassment and the solicitation by one of their officers to do porn and I was fired!

I am an ex-employee of Chase, worked there for 6 years in the creditcard service dept. I was wondering if anyone out there can recommend a good civil attorney. I want to file a wrongful termination and slander suit against Chase. I don't currently have a job (still looking) so I need an attorney who would except the case on a contigency basis.
I agree Chase sucks especially the higher ups in HR and management, they don't listen to anything that you have to say, and when you have proof that you provide to them to state you were wronged they ignore the evidence and accuse you of creating the proof. Chase only cares about what they want to care about and they let certain people get away with everything.
Like in my case 3 people were involved but only 1 was punished and released while the other 2 still work there and were not punished at all. THE RIGHT RELATIONSHIP IS EVERYTHING!!! WHAT A JOKE!! Chase allows supervisors to get away with sexually harassing the employees, and when the employee complains, the employee is accused while the supervisor gets away with it.

I am an employee of Chase and I agree with most of the complaints posted here. I have been with the bank -started with Chemical- for almost 8 years. During those years, I have seen the bank go from being focused on good customer service to now being focused on NOTHING but sales revenue. Not only has this caused our customer service scores to fall, but employee moral is at an all time low.Unfortunately, for many of us, quitting is not an option. To the higher ups at Chase we are nothing but a number. They sit in their ivory towers, earning millions of dollars off the hard work of the employees. So....PLEASE...hit them where it hurts. Do not deal in any way, shape or form with Chase Manhattan bank. Go to the credit unions where you will be treated with the respect due you.

Can Uncle Walt be worth everything he's paid? Sure stock is booming. Now. But everyday more employees and customers are getting sick of "Where the right relationship is everything". Uh yeah, but would you at least use KY jelly.

I work at one of the branches as a teller. DO NOT think the long lines are in any way because of us. The high level a--holes that run the branches are too cheap to hire more staff. They are on an endless mission to cutback costs which means...they'll overwork the three full timers they have, instead of hiring more tellers. Stupid rules like no balances at the teller window are made up and enforced by none other than the wonderful managers that sit on their fat a--es and don't do anything, but talk on the phone and go out for 2 hour lunches all day, everyday.

I'm a chase employee. I must admit Chase does suck. Chase sucks big donkey ---. I remember when we were called Texas Commerce Bank. No real problems. No aggravations. Every problem was easy to fix. Then comes the merger. Big mistake. I didn't mind the merger so much, it was that we had to change to the Chase systems, with Chase attitudes, and comply with the Chase culture. Thats when the $h!T hit the fan. More complaints, more bureaucracy, more headaches. We even got some of dem New Yorkers to come down to good old H-town to serve as new managers and officers. I hate them. They act like they're doing us Texas employees a favor and treat us like we've been raised in a barn. I hate their whole freaking attitude. They've jeopardized the good old Southern Texas hospitality that our customers were acclamated to.This is what I found out about the Chase New York employees, they ain't edumacated one bit. It's funny, all they showed me is how to be abrasive with customers that complain and how to deal with them. When we were Texas Commerce Bank I didn't have to be abrasive because we didn't have to deal with so many complaints. One more year til I get my Finance degree and i'm out of this institution. heres one simple equation: x=suck therefore xsquared=chase.

I AM AN EMPLOYEE OF CHASE. CREDIT CARD CUST SERVICE.YES THERE ARE PROBLEMS, BUT THIS IS SO WITH ALL BANKING INSTITUTIONS. FOR ALL THE PEOPLE WHO COMPLAIN ABOUT LATE FEES, OVER LIMIT FEES, YOU MAY WANT TO LOOK AT ALL CREDIT CARDS AND YOU WILL SEE THEY ARE ALL THE SAME.MOST TERMS WORSE THAN CHASE. AN EXAMPLE: PAY YOUR PAYMENT LATE ONCE AND YOUR NICE 3.9 INT RATE WILL GO UP TO ABOUT 14%, WHICH IS THE AVERAGE. PAY LATE TWICE, YOUR AT ABOUT 22%. CHASE GIVES YOU 2 TIMES IN 6 MNTHS TO BE LATE. IVE NEVER BEEN LATE ON ANYTHING IN MY LIFE, AND I MAKE 9$ AN HOUR. ITS VERY SIMPLE:PAY ON TIME, DONT SPEND MORE THAN YOU HAVE. IF YOU CANT DO THIS, YOU DONT NEED A CREDIT CARD ANYWAYS. READ YOUR AGREEMENTS. I HAVE HAD SEVERAL CARDS, AND THEY ARE ALL THE SAME. LIKE I SAID:BE AN ADULT..FINANCE YOUR MONEY. DONT TAKE A CASH ADVANCE, PAY YOUR BILL WITH THE MONEY YOU TAKE OUT THEN BITCH ABOUT THE FEES AND INTEREST.DONT ROB PETER TO PAY PAUL.
IM SURE THERE ARE LEGIT COMPLAINTS HERE. BUT AFTER READING MOST OF THEM, THESE ARE CASES OF IRRESPONSIBLE PEOPLE NOT MANAGING THERE TIME AND MONEY. YOU GET A BILL WITH 25 DAYS TO PAY IT. YOU CAN CHANGE YOUR DUE DATE. DONT MAKE EXCUSES FOR YOUR ERRORS. STOP LOOKING AT BANKS, NOT JUST CHASE, AND START LOOKING AT YOURSELF. GREAT SITE!!!!!

All of it turned out to be a big fat lie. The supervisors are lazy will do only the minimum they can get away with doing.
They have a problem filling customer service positions not only because their employee relations are terrible, but because they don't give a damn about the customer.

I called the customer service people up, and requested a card with the maginfaction lens they were promoting, 3 different times. 3 different times they sent me a form for a photo id. So in my biased opinion, Chase a great company to work for, bad company to have a credit card with.

In my short time at Chase, I went through two company reorganizations, worked in three differen t divisions, and had three different supervisors. Just after I left, Chase reorganized my department again, laying off half the employees. This kind of frenetic activity is common throughout the company. Is it any wonder Chase is so inefficient and disorganized? In fact, most employees in Inquiry Control emphatically advise their family and friends to bank elswhere.

I love the website very much. I worked for Chase for almost four years, and I agree that the bank does suck.I worked in Customer Service(credit card), and learned alot about the banking business while I was there. Most importantly, I learned that this bank is very incompetent at everything. I remember during the merger with Chemical customers were calling in an d asking about the merger, and we asked management about it, and they told us to have them call back later. That was a great answer to tell customers.
Customer Service is the most slave oriented department in the bank. The reps are treated like dirt, and paid very little. Promotions are a joke in that company because only the chosen are given the opportunity to advance in that company.
Also, during the merger I remember that the Inquiries Department where all letters are sent to for all issues - lost most of the letters that customers sent in. Visa and Mastercard have time limits that customers need to adhere to for disputes, and these time limits were missed greatly because of the ineptness of Chase personnel in the inquiries dpt.
Payments were lost on a regular basis, or posted to the wrong account. I remember during the merger that personnel in the payment center were working overtime six days a week to correct these problems.
The oppressive environment at Chase blows my mind. I have friends that still work there, and wonder why the remain there. I've moved on to better things, but feel sorry for those are still there.

Chase indeed is an oppressive place to work. The managers are tyrannical in my branch, and I hate my job. Keep this site going - no matter what they try to pay you. I've told everyone at work, and they're having a blast with th e website.

I worked for Chase for 10 years. After they merged with Chemical the service became worse because they cut down staff and the workload quadrupled. Their only concern is selling -selling -selling......not service. Their techniques to accomplish this w as to brainwash their employees to the point of giving each one revenue goals that must be met on a quarterly basis. All my colleaques are burnt out and couldn't care less about customer satisfaction. Those of you who have experienced bad customer service should close your accounts and find a bank that cares ..... THEY STILL EXIST

I worked for chase for almost 5 yrs. started at the bottom and worked my way up. Proved myself all the way. One day, because of something someone said I supposedly had said - I was branded and placed on a final warning and asked what had happened to change me overnight.
I was not allowed to exonerate myself, but was forced to work as if nothing had happened and put up with the person who started the "complaint" as if nothing had happened.
I was constantly living in f ear that this person would say something else and I would be fired. Well, I became so ill I went on leave of absence and then changed jobs.
I am much happier now, but I still have alot of suppressed anger towards chase.
I thought maybe voicing som e of my anger would help me start dealing with it.

As an employee I see what really goes on from the inside. My Dept. is "migrating" to Houston. Needless to say they keep the rest of us who are not "migrating" in the dark as to exactly what is happening. We are supposed t o be "merged " with another Dept.- and it's called a similar job-HA!
A brain dead monkey could do the job of serviceline at least it takes a little technical knowledge to work for the online banking Dept - PLEASE! Don't get me started - I know it sucks .
So if you think it's bad being a customer then just imagine working here. And Chase was rated as within the top 50 Co.'s to work for as far as employees - What a load of ****. Maybe only those people that make over $200,000 were polled.
Cause I can tell you as a job it really really ... etc SUCKS

As an employee of Chase, I have a biased opinion. This forum however allows me to express that opinion. Out of the millions of customers that Chase has, there is only a sampling of the unhappy customers listed in this gue stbook. I assure you there are more. However, for every one unhappy customer there are 100 more happy ones.
Don't let the mistakes of one arrogant teller/customer service rep./bank official, ruin your ideas about Chase. We have all experienced bad customer service at one time or another, yet we forget all the wonderful customer service we had in the past. Please remember, that one bad apple, don't spoil the bushell. You have a right to complain, so do so. I have dealt with several customer servi ce firms, all claiming to outstanding in customer service, but there is always one person that maked it fall short of it's goal to provide the best. It is an odd world today, remember that. I work in the online banking dept and always treat my customers with respect, even if I feel that they are not treating me the same way. Also, remember it is a two way street, to get respect, you must give respect. Next time you have a bad customer service experience, ask yourself, "How did I hande the situation?" "Did I provoke it?" We all have bad days, and tend to take it out on the little guy, the person that we know we will never see again. This gives us the power that we feel we lack. The control that we would like to have over ourselves and our situations . I assure you, if you ever get me, I would understand your frustration. I have been there myself at times.
Thank you for allowing me to add this. Anyone may email me, I will welcome and respond to all. Eddie Murphy (My real name)
